My friends have been subjected to a lot of fearmongering about robots lately (mostly from myself, caused by a sudden and inexplicable yet totally rational fear of robots), and I thought I’d just post this video as a bleak reminder of what will become of us all.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
If you live in Seattle, you might remember the little ol’ lady from Ballard who dug in her heels when developers came a-knockin’. Having lived in the same house for nearly her whole life, Edith Macefield refused to sell, and development continued on around her home, leaving her the only house on a block of concrete. Clearly, Pete Docter stole this story for his movie “Up,” which I hear is pretty crappy anyway.
While Carl Fredricksen was based on the real-life Edith Macefield, Wilderness Scout Russell has no real-world counterpart other than the countless chubby annoying Asian kids I know.

Last night I went to a free sneak preview of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In case you were wondering, “the Fallen” doesn’t actually refer to the Decepticons that fell into the Laurentian abyss because that would make too much sense. Instead, it refers to some enigmatic figure in a positively convoluted plot that just doesn’t quite mesh with movie number one. Add some explosions and you’ve got yourself a a terrible, terrible sequel.
Needless to say, I was highly disappointed by the whole experience.
An unfavorable review of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
If you’re a dad: enjoy your day today, you’ve earned it! Kick back, relax, and watch some ball on the tube. Moms: you can all go fuck yourselves. Just kidding, that’s dad’s job today.

Being that I’m forever in pursuit of new ways to make myself seem more pathetic and lonely, I went to go see The Proposal by myself today. The movie had its moments, but its real saving grace was Ryan Reynolds’ face/body. Wow. It’s like he was chiseled out of marble. If he’s ever in a movie with kittens, I might explode.
Aside from catching a brief glimpse of Ryan Reynolds’ naked profile, the best part of the movie was seeing the preview for The Surrogates, a new sci-fi thriller featuring Bruce Willis. It looks like they CGed the fuck out of his face for this movie, which makes me want to live free or die hard.
The Surrogates has its own crappy online marketing ploy (worse even than the one for Terminator Salvation and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen). I won’t subject you to the horrifying end product I got after going through the motions of “creating my own surrogate,” but suffice it to say it was wasn’t pretty.
