The new trailer for Disney’s next 2D-animated film The Princess and the Frog is online! This is exciting because five years ago, under the leadership of everyone’s favorite creepy uncle Michael Eisner, it looked like Disney would never produce another traditionally animated 2D film after the lackluster Home on the Range.
Fortunately, Eisner was ousted with the super sexy Bob Iger taking his place, Pixar was acquired, and creative innovators Ed Catmull and John Lasseter got the ball rolling to rejuvenate the animation department and re-establish the genre that Disney invented. And that’s your crash course in Disney history for the evening (for more information on Disney, mention anything remotely Disney-related in my presence and I’ll treat you to an earful).
This new movie looks beautifully animated, expressively voiced, and will break ground with Disney’s first African American princess. I only have one complaint…
Originally, composer Alan Menken was supposed to do the music. This is the guy who did the music for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, and many other amazingly-scored films. Well, apparently Disney doesn’t like to be totally awesome, cause they gave him the boot in an effort to avoid being repetitive. Guess who they chose instead?
Jump for Alan Menken’s replacement, plus the new trailer for The Princess and the Frog…

If you don’t want to deal with a vacuum cleaner, you get a Roomba, that little circular robot that vacuums floors automatically and requires no supervision. If you want to get totally creeped out, you get a Fukitorimushia, a half-leech, half-pillow robot that will wipe the dirt off your floor, and also probably kill you in your sleep.
